Pokemon Stadium 1 & Pokemon Stadium 2

Pokemon Stadium 1Pokemon Stadium 2

I found Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 is a great extension to Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold, and Silver Pokemon versions.  But if you looking for a stand alone game without getting any special accessories like Super Mario 64, or StarFox 64, you'll be disappointed.  If you don't have one Gameboy Pokemon version that is compatible this these 2 games and a Transfer Pak accessory for N64, you'll be stuck playing only the 3D Pokemon battles only using Rental Pokemon.

Pokemon Stadium 1 is only compatible with the Blue, Red, and Yellow versions of Pokemon. I found it really useful that you can store Pokemon and extra Items onto the PC in the Pokemon Lab so you can have more space in your GameBoy game without having to lose any useful Pokemon or Items you like to keep. You can also trade Pokemon between 2 players using the N64 in the Pokemon Lab, as well as the ability to play you Pokemon Gameboy game on your TV by going to the Gameboy Tower. While you fight the N64 version of Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and Stadium, you can use your own Pokemon you have been training or use rental while fighting on your N64, you even can earn goodies if you beat the Elite Four and fill in the entire Victory Place. I vote 4/5 Stars this game.

Pokemon Stadium 2 is meant for the next generation of Pokemon games (Gold and Silver), as well the compatiblity of using the B/R/Y versions.  Pretty much the same as the first Pokemon Stadium, but its really useful for the Gold and Silver version of Pokemon, fighting Gym Leaders, Elite Four, and the Stadium is updated with new cups, and with the new Gym Leaders that is in the Gold and Silver versions, there is no Victory Place which I was disappointed because it was one of my most favorite challange for N64, but there is a Pokemon acadamey so you can learn whats new in Pokemon as well as some useful info on the orginial Pokemon Color versions. If you do use a Pokemon Gold or Silver version and have the Mystery Gift unlocked, you can get a gifts from the Girl that has given you the Mystery Gift feature, there are some really cool gifts from there like Pikachu Bed and Tentacool Doll.  If you like to set up those goodies in your room, you can go to "My Room" on the N64 so you can decorate your room in 3D as well as not having to fly back to your home town and decorate from there.  I found the style of Pokemon Stadium 1 is better than Pokemon Stadium 2, and I wished there were a updated victory place in the second Pokemon Stadium since it is one of my favorite N64 Challange.  Also the Gameboy tower on Pokemon Stadium 2 loads a whole lot slower than the first one, so if you find your GBC or GBA kicking around, that will be much quicker than loading it on your N64.  My vote for Pokemon Stadium 2 is 3.5/5 Stars

I find these 2 Pokemon Games for N64 only as good as extensions for the Pokemon Gameboy games not as a stand only game.  So if you don't play Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Red, Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Gold, and Pokemon Silver, don't bother getting these 2 games. These 2 games also requires the Transfer Pak accessory for N64.
